Parks Canada is seeking a contractor to demolish and reconstruct a retaining wall on the downstream left bank of Lock 5 at the Chambly Canal National Historic Site in Chambly, Quebec. The estimated contract value is $250,001–$500,000, excluding taxes. The opportunity is open and currently shows a closing time of November 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. However, the notice also states that the work must be completed by January 15, 2026, which is before both the listed closing date and the optional site visit on October 27, 2026. This apparent date inconsistency should be confirmed with Parks Canada before relying on the schedule. Key points for a potential bidder: - A two-submission bid process applies; consult SI04 in the tender documents. - Bids must be submitted by email to [email protected] or by fax to 1-855-983-1808. In-person, courier, SAP Ariba, or submissions to other email addresses will not be accepted. - Email attachments must be used; links to documents will not be accepted. The stated maximum email size is 15 MB, and multiple clearly labelled emails may be required. - An Indigenous participation plan and specific socioeconomic benefits for Indigenous people and businesses in the contract area are part of the solicitation requirements. - An optional site visit is scheduled for October 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at 1840 avenue De Bourgogne, Chambly, Quebec. Attendance must be confirmed with the Contracting Authority at least 24 hours in advance. - Written technical and contractual questions should generally be submitted at least five business days before closing. - Work must comply with applicable National Parks legislation, regulations, and requirements. The tender documents listed include the invitation to tender, integrity form, plans, and specifications. A construction company with relevant retaining-wall, demolition, reconstruction, heritage-site, bonding, insurance, and regulatory experience may find this opportunity potentially relevant, but the notice does not establish that any particular company qualifies. Review the complete official tender notice, all plans, specifications, amendments, submission instructions, bonding and insurance requirements, Indigenous participation criteria, and corrected dates on Canada Buys before deciding whether or how to bid. Late or improperly submitted bids may not be considered.
